Dog Days of Summer – those final weeks in August that brings back memories of shopping for school supplies and bidding a fond farewell to the carefree childhood lifestyle. Remember the Steven King movie “Stand By Me”? Yep, that’s what I think of…

I just came back from my summer vacation on the Danube River cruise with Brandg Vacations, and am now firmly in “back to school” mode – only for me it’s “back to Pride season” in Palm Springs. Ron DeHarte and my team have been planning the Arenas Road DJ stage, and we’ve got a great lineup to announce soon.

So our Dog Days of Summer are here (Friday is National Dog Day), and Animal Samaritans is rising to the occasion with a bash tomorrow. Details below.

I’m missing my “Buddy the Wonder Dog” who has been summering with mom and dad in Michigan.

Last Chance to See Leon Polk Smith Exhibit

Leon Polk Smith Exhibit PS Art Museum Aug 2022

The Palm Springs Art Museum presents the final weekend to see their exhibit, Leon Polk Smith: 1945 – 1962, which closes on Sunday, August 28. This exhibition presents the work of Smith, the innovative painter (1906-1996) whose significant contributions to twentieth-century art are becoming increasingly recognized. Using a vocabulary of brilliant colors and simple, minimal forms, Smith challenged some of the most fundamental conventions of painting by dissolving the distinction between foreground and background and freeing his paintings from the boundaries of a rectangular format. More info
