Just one year ago the ink was drying on our final contracts and the FCC transfer of license for KGAY 106.5 and I took over ownership.

Brad Fuhr

And 11 years ago was my official start date in the desert as a full time resident, having moved from Los Angeles.  The idea for Gay Desert Guide was already hatched and I began the process of creating and populating the website over the months leading up to Labor Day, 2013.  That’s the official launch date of GayDesertGuide.LGBT. We started our 10th year in 2022 and will celebrate that milestone this Labor Day.

KGAY has become a top radio station in Palm Springs. We now have the best talent on our airwaves: #1 radio personality John Taylor, # 1 voted DJ Galaxy, DJ Eric Ornelas, the most recognizable name on air, Ross Mathews, program director and afternoon host Chris Shebel, and the newest member of our lineup DJ ModGirl.

As I posted on social media yesterday, it couldn’t happen without an outstanding supporting cast. We have nearly 25 people who help keep the train on the tracks and running on time.  Looking back on a rough and tumble 2022, we made it to 2023! I’m grateful for my team, and for you, our readers and listeners. Thanks also to our advertisers and partners who support us for the benefit of all!
