DJ Galaxy Halloween on Arenas

The City of Palm Springs Human Rights Commission will present its annual Community Service Awards on Monday, February 14 from 5:30–6:30 pm on Zoom. The awards will be presented to six individuals and two organizations for outstanding contributions promoting and protecting human rights, social progress, better standards of life, and equality for all individuals. KGAY’s own DJ Galaxy (Vincent Corrales) will be honored at the ceremony, and then on Wednesday, February 16 at 5 pm, Vincent will be celebrating his honor at Trunks Bar in Cathedral City, so stop by to congratulate him and enjoy some food, fun, music & love! Additional Community Service Awards honorees include: CV Independent publisher Jimmy Boegle, plus Ann Sheffer, VAXIE, Chad Gardner, Nikki Stone, Dean Lavine, and The Desert Healthcare District and Foundation. Women’s B.A.M. Salon for February

The LGBTQ Center of the Desert presents B.A.M. Salon (Book and Movie Salon) for women, hosted by Flynn Sylvest and Irma O’Dell on Tuesday, February 15 from 7:00–8:30 p.m. and every 3rd Tuesday, monthly on Zoom. The group’s purpose is to develop and deepen LGBTQ+ community and connection through stimulating and informative conversations about books and movies that highlight women authors and women’s stories and experiences. This month’s salon features The Handmaiden (2016) directed by Park Chan-Wook, about a woman hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, but secretly she is involved in a plot to defraud her. More info


Palm Springs City Hall to Reopen to Public Tuesday

Due to an encouraging decline in COVID-19 cases, City Hall and other City of Palm Springs facilities will reopen to the public for walk-in service on Tuesday, Feb. 15. For the time being, masks indoors will be required in all City facilities as required by Cal/OSHA. Hours of operation are 8 am–6 pm Monday–Thursday. Palm Springs Police Neighborhood Town Halls

The Palm Springs Police Department will hold a series of town hall meetings each day at 4:00 pm from Tuesday, February 15–Saturday, February 19 at locations around the city. The meeting is intended to invite residents and businesses to address public safety issues and help shape the future of the department, and will be facilitated by Chief Andrew Mills and PSPD Command Staff with elected officials from each district present. More info
