One Modernism ends and another is announced! Not only was Modernism Week – October a huge success, it laid the groundwork for February’s festival from the 16th to the 26th.

Christopher Kennedy has announced a partnership with the Palm Springs Animal Shelter to create a weekend of five home tours in Vista Las Palmas and Indian Canyons.

Cooler mornings are the norm now, so enjoy them as we await the end of DST and then get an hour of early sunlight back (for walking the dog or just taking a hike, bike or run.)

Oh and don’t forget to vote for John Taylor, DJ Galaxy and KGAY in the Best of Coachella Valley from the CV Independent. It IS your favorite radio station, right???

Women’s B.A.M. Salon for October

The Childrens Hour

The LGBTQ Center of the Desert presents B.A.M. Salon (Book and Movie Salon) for women, hosted by Flynn Sylvest and Irma O’Dell on Tuesday, October 18 from 7:00–8:30 p.m. and every 3rd Tuesday, monthly on Zoom. The group’s purpose is to develop and deepen LGBTQ+ community and connection through stimulating and informative conversations about books and movies that highlight women authors and women’s stories and experiences. This month’s salon features The Children’s Hour (1961) directed by William Wyler. Longtime friends Martha and Karen run a boarding school for girls. When an unruly child, Mary is punished for lying, she concocts a story that Karen and Martha are having a lesbian relationship. When the story spreads, parents withdraw their children from the school. The women’s lawsuit for libel hits many snags when they lack witnesses to speak for them. More info
