Brad Fuhr

Pride pops up periodically. While June is the “official” month of Pride, we tend to celebrate throughout the year. Case in point: this weekend’s CV Firebirds Pride weekend, where KGAY & Gay Desert Guide are the sponsors.

Our new hockey team is reaching out to the LGBTQ+ communities to show support, and sell tickets, of course. We have a special section reserved with reduced price tickets, so click below to get yours! Look for DJ Galaxy and DJ ModGirl spinning for two hours as the gates open two hours before game time Saturday and Sunday. I’ve got my Firebirds jersey and am ready to see a hat trick or two. (That’s the correct term, I think???)

Speaking of Pride, we’re making plans for the first Pride of the year with Cathedral City LGBT Days coming up in February. There’s going to be a tribute to Leslie Jordan, who passed in 2022. He left an indelible mark on the desert from his many appearances and films. He participated in the bed race pre-COVID and also made “Sordid Lives” a classic.

The Film Festival Gala and Red Carpet narrowly missed a soaking from this week’s intimate weather. There’s a full track of LGBTQ films including “1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture” that I’m looking forward to seeing.
