Bacon and Palm Springs Pride are inextricably connected in my mind. Every year on Pride Sunday, the pre-parade breakfast is lovingly prepared by the nutrition staff at Desert Regional as we gather to recognize the Pride honorees for the year. They have a secret recipe for candied bacon that is to die for.

Today, I wanted to recognize our Pride honorees for 2022. You can read all about them HERE in case you don’t recognize the faces. And some are people whose work goes on quietly to help our movement and those who still face oppression, discrimination and hate.

The weekend is filled with revelry, loud music (too loud for some!), hookups, new friends, discovery and a sense of freedom to “be ourselves” with little care or worry.

However, as a new week dawns, an election looms and we need to turn our energy to making sure we gain and maintain our human and civil rights far into the future.
