BNP Paribas Open Begins
The largest international tennis tournament outside of the four Grand Slams, the BNP Paribas Open (aka “Tennis Paradise”) kicks off Monday, March 7 and continues through Sunday, March 20 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. 9th Annual Palm Springs Jewish Film Festival
The Palm Springs Jewish Film Festival takes place March 6–9 at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, presented by Temple Isaiah, in conjunction with Jewish Federation of the Desert. The Festival provides an opportunity to grow compassion and community throughout the Coachella Valley, and to help expand understanding of Jewish life through film. The films have been chosen to create community and strengthen consciousness of Jewish identity, history, and culture; provide a dynamic and inclusive forum for exploration of the expansive diversity of Jewish experiences as well as films for sheer entertainment. I’m Speaking: Reflections on International Women’s Day
The LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert, along with Mizell Center and Mina Hartong, present Reflections on International Women’s Day: An Evening of Personal Stories on Wednesday, March 9 from 6–8 pm. Featuring DeeAnn Hopings, Cris South, Nancy Worthington and others telling their stories through oral histories to archive and chronicle the history of the LGBTQ+ community in the Coachella Valley. Eisenhower Health and The LGBTQ Center of the Desert present Heart Healthy Nutrition on Wednesday, March 9 from 4–5 pm via Zoom. In a world full of information on nutrition, it can be hard to figure out exactly what “heart healthy eating” looks like.
