What is “wedded bliss”? It’s a term that we see on greeting cards, but what does it really mean? I am in Chicago this weekend attending the wedding of a good friend of mine. For him, this is the second time around. My ex, Tom, and I spent a lot of time with he and his ex over the years here in the Windy City. But both of those relationships ended without such bliss.

I’m staying at the Airbnb of a couple who seems to of found theirs. After over 25 years together, Todd & Tripp’s home reflects the rich history that the two have shared over the years. And it would appear that they will live happily ever after. Bully for them!

This summer, I’ll be officiating my first wedding. The lesbian couple are in Sonoma, one of my favorite spots. One of the women is from my hometown and we grew up together not knowing of our same sex attraction. She married and had children, but now has found the true love of her life. So hope springs eternal, I always say.

We currently have marriage equality, but there are some gunning to take away that right. This week’s midterm elections were certainly heartening in that we didn’t have the red wave. But let’s not take for granted that the rights we have today are enshrined long term. P.S. I loved this meme from Stephen Colbert.
