We’re putting out the Red Carpet on Wednesday with the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert. No celebs will be harmed nor likely seen at this event. Rather you’ll be the star. How? By giving your time to volunteer at one of the many non-profits which will be represented at “Info A Go-Go”.

You may also find connection to services, fun classes, ways to network and things to do in our great gay Coachella Valley. I love this event, which has been on hiatus since the pandemic. Details below. KGAY 106.5’s John Taylor, no stranger to community service, will be appearing at the Margaritaville event before rushing off to the rescheduled “Kings of Queen” concert at the Downtown Park in Palm Springs.

We have so many charities and service organizations in the valley. And so many wealthy donors and philanthropists. But I can’t help wondering that if some of the companies behind those people had paid their fair share of taxes and living wages, we may not need all those services…

American Framing Exhibit

American Framing

The Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center presents American Framing on display now through July 2. Originally presented at the U.S. pavilion of the 2021 Venice Biennale of Architecture, Paul Andersen and Paul Preissner developed the exhibition American Framing to examine wood framing—one of the country’s most overlooked yet common construction systems. Originating in the early 19th century, softwood construction was a pragmatic solution to a need for an accessible building system among settlers with limited resources of wealth, technical skills, and building traditions. It has been the dominant construction system ever since—more than 90% of new homes in the U.S. today are wood framed. This exhibition presents models, furniture, photographs, and a full-scale wood structure, which together argue that a profound and powerful future for design can be conceived out of an ordinary past.
