And the hits just keep on comin’! That’s a phrase used by radio stations like KGAY in days gone by to promote the music we play. But today, the hits that keep on coming are attacks on free speech in America.
This morning, NPR sued Trump over his executive order to end funding for it and PBS. Other public broadcasters joined the suit. We can’t because we are not technically public radio. But I would if I could.
As you heard us document last week during our #SupportYourStation campaign, we’re facing some of the same challenges that our NPR brethren are facing. KGAY is a public benefit corporation, putting purpose over profit. And our worldwide streaming costs were no longer sustainable without your help.
Hundreds of you made contributions to keep our stream alive and help defray those costs – many as monthly or annual subscribers. We appreciate it more than you can imagine. But the real winners are those listeners in red states, in foreign countries where LGBTQ+ rights have been suppressed and even for those who just love the music we play. They get the messages too.
We go into June, International Pride month, with a spring in our step! Your support has lifted us up and made our commitment to inform and entertain even more precious. June also sees the final AIDS / LifeCycle ride take place, WeHo Pride kick off the month and World Pride in Washington, DC continue.
As my favorite protest t-shirt reads, “Pride is a MARCH. Not a Parade.”

In this fictionalized scenario, a movie executive and a publicity expert host an impromptu peace talk with an Israeli and an Egyptian diplomat, and as debates unfold, unexpected romance blooms, mirroring the film’s narrative.
