Brad Fuhr

Giving seems to be in our LGBTQ DNA. The practice of helping others — whether financially, socially or in volunteerism — is something we just do, most of the time without giving it a second thought.

You’ve heard about the Laws of Attraction, made famous by the video and book, The Secret. At KGAY & Gay Desert Guide, we have found each other and truly believe in our mission. My team exudes that spirit of giving out and showing up.

From DJ Galaxy making meals for the less fortunate at the holidays to Eric Ornelas’ helming Safe Schools, we like helping others. Our KGAY Cares campaign donates thousands of public service messages to deserving organizations. And our GayDesertGuide calendar keeps you up to date on fun and fundraisers.

So when it was time to ask for help with our KGAY #SupportYourStation campaign, we were in an odd place — asking for help. Our streaming costs have risen to over $5,000 per month to keep our music and message going around the world. You responded.

If you didn’t have the opportunity to contribute, you can still do so all weekend at KGAYPalmSprings.com. I’m on the John Taylor morning show today thanking our contributors. If you’re among them, we are filled with gratitude that you stepped up to help keep the KGAY stream alive worldwide.

Now on to helping others again. Our businesses that lost so much after last Saturday’s bombing won’t qualify for insurance reimbursement due to it being an act of terrorism. So please support our local businesses in the many ways you’ll read and hear about on Gay Desert Guide and KGAY, respectively.

Brad Fuhr, your K-Gay Desert Guide

The Beverly Hills Peace Talks

Beverly Hills Peace Talks

Step back into a captivating moment in history with The Beverly Hills Hotel Peace Talks by CVRep, running May 21–June 1. The story was inspired by a real-life 1968 incident—when the casting of Funny Girl sparked tensions between Israel and Egypt. In this fictionalized scenario, a movie executive and a publicity expert host an impromptu peace talk with an Israeli and an Egyptian diplomat, and as debates unfold, unexpected romance blooms, mirroring the film’s narrative. Our theatre reviewer Stephen Radosh praises the clever blend of historical events, Hollywood drama, and personal diplomacy, with strong performances and thought-provoking themes of loyalty, identity, and reconciliation.
