Brad Fuhr

The “kids” are back in town – gathering from all around the globe for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. It’s back after a COVID hiatus like everything else. And while Ye won’t be on the bill, there are dozens of others who deserve a listen and recognition.

Locally, Giselle Woo & the Night Owls are nervously awaiting their debut on stage. Woo was a student of mine when I taught radio at COD, and was just getting started. I’m happy for she and her assembled multitude, and wanted to give a shoutout as Coachella Weekend 1 gets underway. Harry Styles will be sufficiently objectified for his looks, but his music really shines. And on the horizon is his Palm Springs-filmed movie ”Don’t Worry Darlin’”

Live music is back in Palm Springs proper as The Alibi reopens. I attended a pre-Coachella party last night and talked to Liz and Melanie about their future plans. Big Freedia is on the stage Saturday and Sunday with a great lineup of indy music on the marquee.

I’m off to The Living Desert for “Glow in the Park” and will have a report Monday morning on KGAY 106.5.
